A traditional British chip shop has arrived in Henderson and is already drawing crowds of ex-pats eager for a nostalgic taste of home.
Now open daily, The Codfather is practicing social distancing with its three indoor tables, and offering takeout of a compact menu built around deep fried cod, haddock, or vegan fish and hand-cut chips.
Located at the Sunset Ridge Shopping Center, in the same retail strip as two other recent debuts, Maui Exiles and Tiki Thai, the front door is hard to miss, decorated with a red British telephone box design.
Fish and chips and a soda are currently priced at $13.50, alongside chicken fingers, battered sausage, a $7.50 seasoned saveloy sausage, and sides of curry sauce or gravy.
As he continues to add specials to the menu, Sheffield-born owner Glynn Bramhall has also been preparing his own in-house mushy peas, a cornerstone of a northern England chip shop experience.
The Codfather, 2895 N. Green Valley Pkwy., 702-462-2280. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and noon on Sunday.
