BEREA, Ohio -- Apparently, it’s true what they say about potato chips: You can’t eat just one.
A Maplelawn Drive resident called police at about 6:15 p.m. Oct. 14 and said he had found a strange man in his home eating potato chips.
The resident believed the man entered his house through the attached garage, which the resident had left open. The man opened several of the resident’s bags of potato chips and, in the process, dropped several chips on the floor.
Upon being caught, the man left the house and walked to Northeast Care Center, a group home on Maplelawn, where he lives. Police told the resident that the man likely suffered from a severe mental or physical impairment.
A neighbor told police that the same man had tried to enter her home about a week earlier.
Staff at the group home told police that the man had returned safely and unharmed. Police contacted the Cuyahoga County Division of Senior and Adult Services.
