Major automakers, including Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV and Ford Motor Co., are reducing or halting vehicle production amid global shortage of semiconductor chips, Interesting Engineering reported citing ABC News. Availability of semiconductor chips, which power several features in modern cars, has been affected by COVID-19 pandemic-related factory shutdowns and an increase in demand for chips by consumer electronics makers.
