Microsoft has teamed up with chip-maker Pringles for a new flavor of potato chip: Moa Burger. As in the Moa, the flightless bird indigenous to the planet Reach (and also the name of an extinct species of bird here on Earth), from Halo: Reach.
In the Halo fiction, Moa were a source of food on Reach, and were served in wing, nugget, and burger form. Pringles’ new Moa Burger aims to approximate what a quadruple hamburger made of ground space bird, plus cheese, pickles, lettuce, onions, and an unidentified sauce, would taste like. They are artificially flavored, naturally.
Pringles’ Wavy Moa Burger chips are only available for a limited time, and sold exclusively at Walmart. Presumably, this particular flavor was conceived when Halo Infinite was going to be a 2020 release, but 343 Industries’ “spiritual reboot” of the franchise is now slated to hit Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC sometime in fall 2021.
Players looking to revisit the world of Reach, back when it was replete with Moa, can play Halo: Reach in Halo: The Master Chief Collection. 343 added Bungie’s Halo prequel to the collection in December 2019.
In the meantime, Halo fans can also consume Halo in liquid form, thanks to Monster Energy’s Halo Infinite cross-promotion.
