Petro's Chili & Chips, a Knoxville-based fast-food chain that specializes in its eponymous layered bowls of chili, Fritos and toppings, opened a new location in Fayetteville.

The drive-thru-only restaurant opened Thursday at 2719 Freedom Parkway Drive.

For the next two weeks, to celebrate the opening, the restaurant is offering half-priced Petros, its signature bowl of Fritos corn chips or pasta, topped with classic or plant-based chili, cheddar and jack cheeses, diced tomatoes, sour cream and green onions.

Anyone who visits between June 17 and 20 will be entered into a drawing for free Petro bowls for a year. Megan Britt, a company spokesperson, said 100 lucky guests who visit during the opening weekend will win.

Petro's, which got its start during Knoxville's 1982 World's Fair, recently expanded into North Carolina. Fayetteville is Petro's' third location in North Carolina, joining Southern Pines, which opened in June 2020, and Burlington, which opened in March.

“We had been exploring opportunities in North Carolina for several years and were very excited when we discovered the property off of Freedom Parkway in Fayetteville,” franchise owner Curtis Hale said in a statement. “It offered the perfect space to open our drive-thru only location!"

Along with the Petro bowls, the menu features hot dogs, topped baked potatoes, nachos, salads and beverages, including the restaurant's popular Hint-of-Orange iced tea.

The Fayetteville location will be open Monday through Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
