A $200 million investment at its Rosenberg, Texas (USA) site, will see snack producer Frito-Lay add two manufacturing lines for its Funyuns and tortilla chips, as well as increase capacity in its warehouse to allow for future growth.
A division of PepsiCo, Frito-Lay expects to complete the expansion by 2023 and provide 160 new jobs, on top of its existing 750 staff. The plant currently produces more than 117 million pounds (53,000 tonnes) of snacks a year.
“The Rosenberg site has the largest footprint of any Frito-Lay facility in Texas, producing snacks for Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kansas and Georgia, and several other parts of the country when we hit times of peak demand,” explained Laura Maxwell, senior vice president of supply chain for PepsiCo Foods North America.
This is the second investment Frito-Lay has made since 2019 to the Rosenberg site when the company invested $138m in a new Cheetos line, seasoning and packaging equipment and a warehouse expansion, set to be complete late 2021.
